Result Report Description and Cutoff Changes
Changes to Opiates Description and pH Adulteration Cutoff Level
Effective October 1, 2017 — To conform with changes mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Alere is updating all result reporting descriptions for standard Opiates and revising the pH cutoff level. The drug description for “Opiates” will change to “Codeine/Morphine”, and the cutoff level for pH adulteration testing will change from < 3.0 ng/mL to < 4.0 ng/mL.
Opiates Description Reporting Change: Customers that order testing for standard opiates will see a change to the “Opiates” description on their result report. It will now say “Codeine/Morphine” (see example). The reporting change is only applicable to clients utilizing a standard opiates panel; the descriptions for an expanded opiate panel will remain the same.
pH Adulteration Cutoff Change: The pH cutoff level for “Adulterated” is now < 4.0 ng/mL. For more information about changes made to the pH cutoff levels or how Alere Toxicology conducts a specimen validity test, contact your client service representative, or download the Adulteration Info Sheet available online at: www.aleretoxicology.com/svt.
Changes Affect the Following:
- Federally regulated Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test programs
- Federal workplace drug testing programs mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
- Specimens processed by the laboratory as a “non-Federal” test
No Action Required
The reports will automatically include the updated information.
