Pain/Practitioner Solutions Group
The Pain/Practitioner Solutions Group (PPSG) is the newest addition to Alere Toxicology Services. In consultation with national experts, we sought to develop a novel compliance and education-based business model to support our clients. We listened, learned, and created a clinical drug testing laboratory model for pain management and other areas that is compliance-based. Alere views its laboratory business from the practitioners’ perspective and uses that knowledge to create a proactive and responsive program that fits within the rapidly changing healthcare environment.
We strive to keep you current, compliant, and educated –
Laboratories do not and cannot treat patients or make medical necessity determinations; however, the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG), through its Model Guidance to Clinical Laboratories, encourages laboratories to educate health care providers on proper testing. To that end, we provide:
- A Unique Education-based system designed to facilitate responsible prescribing and clinical/regulatory compliance.
- Access to a network of nationally respected consultants and expert advisors. Our expert advisors and consultants work WITH and not for Alere. This means that you have access to current and unbiased educational contacts, according to your individual practice needs. This includes consultants and experts in:
- Billing/Coding
- Clinical Practice
- Legal/Regulatory/Compliance
- Toxicology
Compliance
Alere is committed to compliance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines of federal and state programs. We have an active compliance plan and educate our clients on the development of their own compliance plan to ensure that only medically necessary and reasonable testing is performed.
Education
Laboratories are in a unique position to educate providers on proper testing standards and test utilization. We actively seek input from national experts and use it to create quality educational offerings for our clients. Key educational topics include:
- Selecting a Laboratory Partner
- Critical Coding and Reimbursement Issues in Drug Testing
- Creating a Compliance Plan
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Drug Testing in Pain Management in Specialty as well as Primary Care
