John Peterson

Vice President & General Manager

John Peterson, Vice President and General Manager of Alere Toxicology Services, Inc., oversees all operational, financial, and administrative aspects of both SAMHSA-certified laboratories. His responsibilities include the continued expansion of Alere’s Substance Abuse Testing business both organically and through mergers and acquisitions. As a member of Alere’s Executive Committee, he works extensively with Alere’s corporate leadership to develop strategies for providing clients with information that helps them reduce uncertainty and make better health and business decisions.

Mr. Peterson has over 20 years of experience in client relations, management, business development, mergers and acquisitions, and the substance abuse testing industry. During his tenure with Alere, he has held several positions, including Lab Technician, Director of Client Services, National Sales Representative, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to becoming President of what was then called the Substance Abuse Testing division of Kroll Inc., Mr. Peterson held a position with corporate as Kroll’s Vice President of Corporate Sales & Marketing, where he managed the business development activities of all of Kroll’s divisions worldwide. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing and Business Administration. He is an active member of the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) and the Substance Abuse Program Administrators Association (SAPAA).
