Joining the Alere staff as Laboratory Director in January 2001, Dr. David A. Green has been in the toxicology field since 1983 with an additional three years in pharmacology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Green previously served as Laboratory Directory/Scientific Director for Dynacare Laboratories where he was responsible for that organization’s Forensic Toxicology Section. He has served in a similar capacity for Louisiana Reference Laboratories prior to its acquisition by Dynacare and has been affiliated with three national laboratory chains, most recently Dynacare, SmithKline Beecham, and International Clinical Laboratories. Dr. Green has served on the faculty of Louisiana State University and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Biological Recombinant DNA Safety Committee for Louisiana State University. Further, he was awarded the Clinical Chemists recognition award in 1992 and in 2002, holds dual board certifications in Toxicology and Clinical Chemistry from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry, and named a Fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry in 2002. In addition to his duties as Co-Responsible Person under SAMHSA guidelines for Alere’s Gretna laboratory, he serves as an inspector for the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and SAMHSA. Dr. Green received a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry from Nicholls State University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University. He is a member of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists, American Association of Clinical Chemists, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists.
