Certifications

Alere Toxicology Services, Inc. consistently meets and exceeds the certification requirements set forth by the highest standard in the substance abuse testing industry, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The stringent requirements to secure and maintain SAMHSA certification encompass procedures that if not obtained would normally require many individual certifications. In fact, we were one of the first labs to be SAMHSA-certified in 1989 and currently operate two SAMHSA-certified laboratories in Gretna, Louisiana, and Richmond, Virginia. We are also certified by the College of American Pathologists-Forensic Urine Drug Testing (CAP-FUDT) program, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program, and all states that require additional certification. Along with our certifications, our work for several nuclear energy plants requires that we be audited annually by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

In an effort to serve our national clients, Alere has chosen to pursue all federal and state certification programs. Alere has clients throughout the country, and many of our contracts are with national companies with multi-state operations. To meet our clients’ needs, Alere strives to comply with federal and state regulations and further ensure that their substance abuse testing programs are in accordance with the states in which they operate.
